The art of high quality archival printing starts with the right equipment, papers or substrates and pigments
For top quality archival printing,we use the ImagePROGRAF iPF8300, state of the art professional large format printers from Canon, Breathing Color’s award winning canvas and fine art photo papers and Canon archival Lucia EX pigment ink colors.
The Canon IPF8300 prints uses 12 Canon Lucia EX pigment ink colors versus 8 on Epson professional printers giving the Canon IPS8300 a much wider color range. The inks, tested by the Wilhelm Research Institute provide an archival life span of over 300 years (depending on the prints are displayed or stored) and provides better scratch resistance and smoother gradation
We use Breathing Color’s award winning canvas and fine art photo papers and can print up to 44”x59” prints at a 2400x1200dpi resolution.
Before receiving the archival certification, Breathing Color substrates undergo rigorous internal intensive accelerated testing for lightfastness and humidity response using a state-of-the-art Atlas Xenon-Arc Weather-Ometer Ci5000. The substrates are then independently tested by third party UKAS accredited laboratories. Perhaps the most widely recognized is the Blue Wool Test performed by the Fine Art Trade Guild (FATG). FATG tests each product individually for pH and lightfastness. Breathing Color then obtains a rating and approval from FATG for each approved product.
